Rabbi Effy and Shayna Block along with their son Yitzchok Leib, have been appointed by the head shluchim, Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Groner and Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok HaKohen Gutnick to be the new Shluchim to St Kilda, Melbourne Australia.

Melbourne has a population of 6.5 million people and 65,000 Jews. St Kilda is  positioned in the heart of the municipality of Port Phillip and is a neighboring suburb to the Jewish community. From the famous Albert Park Lake, down to the iconic Luna Park, St Kilda is a vibrant community with a diverse range of people.

St Kilda is filled with Jews from all walks of life who are not yet necessarily affiliated or connected with their roots.

With the colorful roads that St Kilda has, the couple will be very busy reaching out to the varied needs of the place. From the sky rises and the offices on St Kilda Road to the unique attractions by St Kilda Beach, Effy and Shayna will have a lot of work to do to connect to the young and old.

The couple sees the Rebbe's ten mivtzoim as a compass upon which to build their shlichus. Their goal is to reach and touch the unaffiliated Jew.

Through Torah classes, Shabbos meals and Holiday programs; Women's circles and Mitzvah booths;  Effy and Shayna are committed to do whatever is needed to  cultivate a strong Jewish presence.

It has been a very rough few months for Melburnians with the various lockdowns due to Covid 19. However as restrictions are easing the young couple see this as a perfect time to start off.

As is expected, the couple will need a strong financial backing to support all the outreach functions they will serve. Any donation you can give will bring you a tremendous merit and be very appreciated.
